| Sadly the poplar I mentioned in the last post was taken down today. The Continental Arboriculturist was on hand to talk to all of use who were concerned and I must say he did a good job. The stump will be left for a week or so to enable all of us who are interested to inspect it and see the rot for ourselves. He was endlessly patient and informative so our talk went beyond the immediate and he spoke at length (amongst many) about Chiswick Back Common - apparently the CBC Association was involved and the choice of the plane trees was with their consent, the severe pruning that Ealing were giving their trees, suitable replacement trees and so on and all on his day off as well! The rain on Saturday night has really help the new grass to establish and we are now awaiting the arrival and fixing of the new benches, picnic tables and the remainder of the play equipment. |
