I think this is both unfair on the author of the article and Katherine Dunne. Although the tone might seem to be over familiar and it is not the best look to designate politicians by their first name if you want to appear balanced, the questions asked were good ones. The answers also were more frank and revealing than we have had previously from the council on the issue. They have determined that a major decline in the standard of e-bike provision is offset by the hole in the council's accounts being a bit smaller.

The interview confirms what we probably already knew - this was a decision made primarily for finanical reasons and the council felt forced to ditch Lime because there was more money on offer from other providers. There is no real attempt here to pretend any different and while some of the justifications are a bit weak, the admission has already been made. We are getting an insight into the reality of local government which is that money is exceptionally tight and hard decisions need to be made.
