Thank you for sharing this, it must have been very harrowing for you. When turning right into South Parade from Fishers Lane I always cross through the middle of the roundabout. Over the years a couple of cars approaching from the east have shot up on the inside but generally people stop. I think those that did continue on saw me but, as the slight slope on the road meant that I was moving quite slowly, they were keen to get ahead of me. With two serious accidents at this junction in a short period, it probably will be reviewed. I'm not sure what the best solution would be but my suggestion would be to reroute Cycleway 49 through the roundabout. That would mean road markings would be a reminder of motorists of the potential presence of cyclists. Less confident cyclists and children could still use the park but I remain concerned about how the current recommended route suggests people cycle out into a blind turning at the tunnel. |
