I'm sorry - I've come to this conversation rather late but I can clarify a few things. It was a collision between a car and a cyclist. I didn't see the accident but heard the crash as I was cycling across Acton Green Common . The cyclist was trapped under the car and a quick thinking passerby organised a team to lift the car by the rear bumper and swivel it off the cyclist. A doctor stopped to assist too and an ambulance, together with fire engines and police cars were soon on the scene. I withdrew as soon as a second ambulance team arrived. The car was travelling east and I understand that the cyclist had come from Fishers Lane, turning right into South Parade. I totally agree with Julian Pavey about the danger for cyclists turning right at the mini roundabout into South Parade as you cannot see, or be seen by traffic coming from the left until you are on the roundabout. Fishers Lane wasn't cordoned off when I left but was by the time I returned at 9pm when accident investigators were at the scene. |
