| I agree with Ed. Too often I see - here in Duke Road, and along Wellesley road - drivers who just don’t stop at junctions when they should. Or, even better, drivers stopping at the junction, seeing that I’m coming, and then pulling in right before me so that they “don’t have to be stuck behind a cyclist”. It matters nothing that I’m well capable of doing the 20mph speed limit, and that they usually drive panzers so wide that they need to slow down or stop so that another panzer can come from the other way. In Japan there’s plenty of narrow streets and indeed most people drive tiny narrow cars which, for the purpose of city commuting, are super adequate (I myself used one: automatic, great visibility, fits everywhere, perhaps not the best for Muswell Hill but hey ho). Why the people of Chiswick deem necessary to own Volvo XC90s, BMW X5s or Audi Q7s I’ll never understand. |
