| "Turning left out of Duke Road onto the high road is a nightmare. Attempting to manoeuvre onto the high road is so dangerous. Cyclists whizzing past in both directions, pedestrians ambling across, and if no cars stop to let you through then you're blocking the cycleway. I only thought the other day that this is an accident waiting to happen." All you've done here is expose the fact that you are unfit to drive. I use this junction as a driver daily and it is not hard to do so. You must wait for all pedestrian and cycle traffic to clear before you consider moving out into the road; if you are blocking either the raised crossing or the cycle lane, you are in breach of the Highway Code. There is a 'Keep Clear' section of the road to facilitate your exit onto CHR which is often available for you to do so in tandem with the traffic light phasing at the junction with Duke Avenue; if you know what you're doing, you can time your left turn to move out naturally into the flow of traffic. Furthermore, the Duke Road bus stop typically provides another opportunity to join CHR traffic as buses temporarily block the flow of Westbound traffic. If you have to wait, you have to wait. You have no entitlement to priority; in fact, as a driver, you have the least priority for very good reason. I rarely have to wait longer than 30 seconds and that's at all times of the day. |
