| The 5% of car owners with non-compliant cars affected by the ULEZ extension don’t have to buy a new car. They can trade in their old diesel for an old petrol, though the lack of financial support for outer London people from central government can’t be helpful and is probably intentional. If Sadiq is obliged to ‘reflect’ on this and delay, that would keep ULEZ as a live issue in outer London seats at the general election, which can’t be what Starmer wants. Depressing to hear him undermining another Labour politician who actually got elected and runs something. |
