Many of my 30 years of living in Chiswick were a joy. Even more so for my husband who was born here. Then came witnessing violent drug gang wars on my doorstep and having our cars regularly broken into by such neighbours, scary dogs - owned for that reason - in the parks, the unjust, assinine closure to traffic of Fisher's Lane which has Belmont School and Sainsbury's just the other side of it when travelling North to South forcing drivers to pollute more when necessary thereby cancelling the positive of walking more when not and finally the 'monstrous carbuncle' carve up of the famous High road (designed with well-being in mind, ironically) in favour of the cycle super-highway used by a male majority and not very much at that. Sadly all too, too much!!. As the saying goes, 'London is fine as long as you don't weaken'. Outcome: weakened, wilted and living in Wiltshire for the last year. But guess what? We didn't even know you could be this palpably happy just about every day. Don't be afraid to leave, everyone! You never lose your real friends and you easily make lovely new ones if you want to. And can perhaps even buy yourself that dream home to entertain them in. Sayonara Chiswick.
