LBOH is slowly turning the Chiswick Riverside ward into a Getoe. Talking to some Riverside residents, who are becoming concerned that if any more restrictions are added to the area they want be able to invite friends and family to visit them for fear of them obtaining a fine, also they would like to leave the Getoe at some time without being fined for doing so. It also looks as though Transport Secretary Grant Shapps is no longer the Cyclist friend with Governments new measures for testing HGV drivers. (Quote from from page article) Transport Secretary Grant Shapps was asked in Parliament on Thursday about whether there were plans to add HGV drivers to the shortage occupation list, which allows skilled worker visas to be granted to migrants to fill positions in occupations where there are labour shortages. Mr Shapps said, “We do have to stand on our own two feet as the United Kingdom. There are a lot of people coming off furlough and I look forward to those people getting jobs.” He later added, “We’ve been working hard to free-up space at DVSA, the testing authority. We’re now testing 50 per cent more drivers than we did before the pandemic.” The process of streamlining HGV driver testing is expected to allow up to 3,000 new lorry drivers to be tested every week. (Unquote) the LCC isn't very happy about it |
