| This is what the petition is for. As someone who is eligible for a pass, this only seems fair for those on the other side of the A316 who have very, very few local amenities. Planned LBH traffic orders, stopping A316 vehicular entry to Grove Park for 6 days a week during term time, will leave residents East of the A316 with no access to local amenities other than via the busy and congested Hogarth Roundabout. This will increase: traffic; journey times and pollution along an already overloaded A316, where there are 2 schools and a Nursing Home. There are currently no plans to issue permits to residents East of A316, who rely on Grove Park for essential services including: Chiswick Station (with heavy luggage), 2 Doctor’s surgeries and pharmacy for the sick, elderly & children, vet, physiotherapist, dentist, places of worship, nurseries, hairdressers, pubs, restaurants and stores offering fresh groceries. No consideration has been made to the elderly or disabled who rely on taxis and Ubers to access essential Grove Park services. This closure would push residents to use facilities in neighbouring areas of East Sheen, Mortlake and Richmond. This practical response, at the individual level would cause further environmental damage and commercial losses to many services and retailers in Chiswick and Grove Park. To exclude over 2,300 residents, near 10% of Chiswick’s population, from ready access to local Chiswick services & the rest of the Chiswick community would be a breach of the Borough’s Duty of Care to provide services to all its residents alike. We request LBH treat all Chiswick residents equally and allow quick access to essential amenities not available East of A316 at all times. |
