| As for paying £13.50 to watch football matches my 15 year old grandson went to Old Trafford a couple of weeks ago and entrance cost was £13. We are not talking about paid cricketers. These are all Amateurs who would be lucky to attract 2 men and a dog to watch. As for school sides, perhaps you would like to take some time and figure what schools in West London play cricket these days. You will find that they are nearly ALL fee paying. I should know, I coached in a few of them during my 25 years of coaching cricket. Junior cricketers join local clubs and are coached by volunteers from within the club with occasional help from paid (by the Club) coaches. We have over 100 Juniors between the age of 7 and 17. Large clubs like Ealing, Teddington, Sunbury have more like 400+ each. |
