| Michael. Things might be changing a little as a result of Covid. For example most clubs do not now provide teas. Most Saturday cricket is played in Leagues where Home and Away fixtures are played so costs are borne by the Home club. Unless a club has two pitches on their Home ground then they all rely on hiring grounds as my club did at Chiswick House from the early 1950s until very recently. Maybe from now on clubs playing non League cricket will be asking for visiting teams to share the hire charge. However it works out, £250+ VAT is extortionate. The usual rate these days is around £150+ VAT. Chiswick House often charge far more when hosting hirers from the Financial world for example. The same rates apply for Sunday cricket hire when hirers tend to be small clubs running one side, most of whom would not be able to afford such fees. Sundays is when clubs tend to have young teenagers playing, introducing them to Senior cricket. Surely you wouldn't expect them to have to pay such rates? |
