Felicity, it is the lack of any coherent plan that is the problem. LBH leaflets state that the plan is to close both TGT and Fisher's Lane to through traffic. TGT makes no sense, it would be possible to increase pedestrian space just by closing some parking bays (and not putting huge planters in that defeat the purpose). TGT will not be a quiet place for cycling, given lots of buses, vans and loading bays will remain.
Be warned everyone, LBH plans to close two of the three roads in Chiswick that allow you to cross (over or under) the tube lines. Traffic volumes will recover after the summer and the route up Acton Lane will be gridlocked. This is the worst traffic plan I have ever seen (and there have been quite a few). Object if you care about Chiswick as a livable community. |
