Report in The Mirror today - almost 13.000 homes have stood empty for 10 years and another 47.000 have been unoccupied for five years. It is estimated that more than 31.000 properties have been empty for at least six months. Only 21 councils - fewer than 10% - have used empty dwelling management orders to take them over if they stand empty for more than six months. A family house opposite me has now stood empty since last October - another that belongs to Hounslow council. The good news is that the house that stood empty since 2017 (used as a 'site office') is finally having work done on it by Hounslow after I raised the empty properties in my area at a Cabinet Question Time, and after endless e-mails with the Leader and Cabinet member responsible.
