| As well as all this nonsense,they are now developing a "noise camera"These are boxes that will be situated at the side of the road and measure the decibels produced by your vehicle as it passes by.If the noise is above the proscribed level,a £120 fine will be in the post.Most people that have noisy exhausts on their motorbikes have them as a safety feature.There is a saying that"noisy pipes save lives"I have been unfortunate enough to have had 2 motorcycle accidents.1 was just a minor crunch.But the other was a very serious accident which put me in hospital for many weeks.And I still suffer with the injuries I received in the major accident.I was very nearly killed in that accident.In both accidents I was hit by a car.And in both cases the drivers said the same thing."I didn't see him"And that's the case with motorbike accidents.Drivers just don't see the bikes.But a bike with a noisy exhaust gives the driver audible warning of a bike approaching.There are now stickers which claim"loud pipes save lives"and that appears to be true.The bike I have now has an 1856cc engine with noisy pipes,and I have been riding this bike for 10 years without any incidents.To start penalising people for having loud pipes is ridiculous.They do save lives |
