Perhaps it was during that unhappy period between AD43 and AD410 when the Roman legions subdued Britannia that our dislike of being ruled from the continent of Europe became hard-wired into the British psyche ? I note that your quote completely ignores the pre-AD43 population of these islands (or even that of AD410) and their descendants. |
