There are plenty of historical precedents of demonising elements within society as a distraction for more insoluble problems that do not involve Hitler. It was our own Edward 1st who first forced Jews to wear yellow stars, prior to having them expelled. For heaven's sake, we are not being taken over. If Farage and his merry band of loonies somehow did manage for form a government, and they then extracted this country from the EU we would certainly find out how chilly things would be without membership of what is a large economic counterweight to the American and Asian trading blocs, and if we remained in EFTA we would be bound by, but have absolutely no influence on EU legislation. He's got a few good soundbites, enjoys grandstanding, but other than a vaguely sinister anti-immigration agenda has no policy at all. |
