Another suggestion would be to find out the name of the UK CEO and complain very loudly.....it used to be Guy Laurence.  I had problems several years ago and emailed him to complain late on a Friday night - he responded very quickly and I got a good six months free vodafone service.  Guy's now left but if you dig you might find an alternative....good luck!
