Councillor Ellar is the one responsible here.  At the last council meeting, he did indeed state that Hounslow Council would have the finest streets in all of London after the repairs/replacements are finished (I almost couldn't contain myself and nearly burst out laughing).  The ABC streets (Ashbourne, Balfern, Cornwall, Eastbury, Wilton & Cranbrook) have won their appeal to block the tarmacking of our pavements (we petitioned for weeks and secured signatures from 75% of local residents).  Despite our coordinator directly asking Cllr Ellar to CONSULT with the local community and STOP the blanket stealth tarmacking of our pavements in Chiswick, he told us that each road would have to contest individually and the tarmacking would continue unless the residents of each road fight it.  Basically, if you don't push back, you'll just get what you're given and that's that. So residents of Grove Park, if you think the lighting is hideous, out of keeping with the area and too bright - pound those pavements for signatures, gather evidence, rock up to the next council meeting and push Cllr Ellar to sort it out properly.  It's a disgrace that you have to do all of the above and a massive waste of our time and resources (as the ABC coordinator also pointed out to Cllr Ellar at the last meeting!) but that's the way it is.
