Totally agree. I recently talked to someone who had looked at the Lom Bok site and the rent, combined with paying two years upfront, were impossible for him.

It means only big chains can afford to be here, which is very boring for anyone who isn't interested in getting their eyes tested or looking for a house, having a cup of coffee or buying a mobile phone.

How do some towns and neighbourhoods effectively guard against this creeping blandness? Is it something the local chamber of commerce (if there is one) or planners should be looking at? Are we just too passive in Chiswick?

Anyway, bye bye Da Da. A good shop with friendly staff.
