| Thirteen years of a Labour government and you want a "Tory Toff" to explain to you why the rich get richer - why not ask a "Champagne Socialist"? Get real. For the record I am not sure what a "toff" is. Yes I am (like Lord Kinnock)the first member of my family to go to University but I was state school educated. Both my father and paternal grandfather left school at 14. Both my grandmothers worked all their lives. My maternal grandfather father died when my mother was 3 months old so my grandmother did not really have much choice but to work. No benefit for single mums in those days. None of this made anyone in one my family feel like a victim or that the State owed us a living. We have all just got on with "it", that is to say making a living, paying our taxes and somehow in the process getting a little richer. I guess in marxist terms I would be happy to be called a member of the petty bourgeoisie - the one truly revolutionary class. Gosh, those first year University classes in sociology were so useful. Verbose yes perhaps. But not quite as bad as being so pig ignorant about economics that I cannot even spell it. |
