| Its all so simple for Carrie and Stew. The mess we are in is all someone else's fault and we should not have to suffer in order to pay back the massive debts that we as a nation now owe. The truth is that if there were easy ways of closing down loopholes in the tax system this would have been done years ago. If you really have some radical and practical ideas about reforming corporate taxes then please explain otherwise stop posting such tripe on threads like this. My suspicion is that you in fact know very little about corporate tax and public finance and are just recycling other peoples fantasies - but I could be wrong. Even under the Coalition Governerment the national debt will continue to rise for years to come. The interest on this debt will be crippling and will be sucking funds away from many worthwhile causes until long after I have retired. In order to sustain what is left of our welfare state we will have to continue borrowing as a nation on a truly heroic scale. £700b sales of government stock are planned over the next five years. The real issue is not "stop the cuts" but "which cuts and when". As we all know Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling could not bring themselves to do a comprehensive spending review in 2009 because the future was too horrible for them to contemplate. It has been left to the grown-ups to clear up the mess that happended on their watch and for which they should take at least some of the blame. |
