Does anyone know how safe savings in the Post Office are, given it is run by the Bank of Ireland. I am not sure if these are covered by the 100% Irish government guarantee (which, as William points out, could be dodgy because the country is likely to go bankrupt if such a major bank collapses) - or by the UK government's £50K (£100k joint account) guarantee if a special BoI UK company had been set up for its Post Office operation or because it is branded as a Post Office saving and the government could't afford that go kaput. |
