I understand the cleaner in question was originally here legally, but has overstayed her visa. Of course, some joined-up thinking in the DHSS (or whatever its current acronym is) would put a flag against an NI number when issued to someone on temporary status indicating that it had a limited validity. Then if the employer follows the rules and notifies HMRC when they take on an employee, the employee's expired status would be immediately recognised and the employer could be informed. |
