| Have to say that if the train operating companies had a monopoly of travel between major UK cities they would probably exploit it mercilessly. People make these journeys by plane because they are quicker and cheaper that way and if the only alternative is an over-priced train then they will tend to drive making the environmental benefit pretty marginal. |
