Dinner was good, as was the whole evening. There were probably around 700 people there, and the atmosphere was surprisingly light and good-natured. There was a significant police presence but the protest was well marshalled and even the security people seemed to enjoy the occasion. As far as I know the El Al flight got away without mishap, so BAA's scare stories came to nothing. ;) There were a few Chiswickians in attendance, but it would have been good to have seen a few more. For those who thought about going along but in the end decided not to, you missed a fun evening. If you want to stop Heathrow expansion, come along to the next event - it'll be publicised on the CRASH wesite in the next few days. One final thing - rumour has it that Brown might not announce the decision this week. Apparently he's promised some backbenchers a further meeting which has yet to be arranged. So tomorrow morning's Cabinet meeting might not herald Decision Day after all. |
