There is a rather large pipe that runs from the lake in Chiswick House and down to the Thames. I’m not sure how large, but the lake has been known to flood during high tides. Where the lake ends, along Burlington Lane and opposite Grantham Rd, there is a wooden bridge, which nowadays is inaccessible, but underneath the bridge is a wall holding the water to it’s usual level, but any excess water runs over and down to the river, unless a high tide prevents so. I believe that the outlet pipe is in the area of Chiswick Pier. May be worth a look to see if a young boy could walk/crawl through it. |
