"I guess I'll pay for a domain if I can easily move it around and use from cafes while travelling. Is that right?" It's the mail system that you actually use that determines whether you can use it from cafés while travelling. It can be any web-based mail system such as Hotmail. Also, some mail providers, especially ISPs (Internet Service Providers), have mail systems which are designed to be used via mail software such as Outlook Express, but can also be accessed via the web when you're on the move. With your own domain, you present a fixed contact address to the outside world, but have the flexibility to forward the mail to whatever mail system is most convenient for you. You could for example have personal mail addressed to Becky@yourdomain.co.uk forwarded to Hotmail, and business mail addressed to Rebecca@yourdomain.co.uk forwarded to somewhere else, if you found that useful. |
