| Are you referring to the Chiswick Back Common proposal as being in the middle of nowhere? Surely not. It is not much further to walk from the High Road than the Heathfield Terrace site and the footfall is very high in the area due to the proximity to the station. I have a vested interest in that it is nearer to me. I am told that this proposal wasn't chosen because the garage owner had second thoughts about closing. If the Robert Dyas option is your preferred choice because it is more convenient for you, bear in mind that Dyas will be the employer of the Post Office counter staff. This is a company which announced a doubling of losses last month and may have to cull unprofitable branches to return to profit or survive. The move into postal services may be a last throw of the dice to keep the branch open and, if it doesn't work, we may be back where we started. A branch run by people with local experience of the industry would be much more likely to endure. |
