| 'In Response To: Poor Vanessa, she seems to have a very strange idea of our electoral system. The last PM who was not elected was c.130 years ago, Archibald Primrose, the 5th Earl of Rosebery whose was PM from March 1894 to June 1895. Since Archibald every PM has been an elected MP. We do not have a national election for PM, we have 650 local elections which happen on the same day where each constituency elects someone as their MP. The Prime Minister is simple the person who has the most support (usually but not necessarily the leader of the largest party) in the House of Commons. So it is completely wrong to say that Liz Truss was unelected (elected for the South Norfolk constituency), that Rishi Sunak was unelected (elected for Richmond (Yorks) constituency which this election becomes Richmond & Northallerton). Please try and understand how elections work!!' Great bit of hair splitting there - total B/S but a good try. |
