The house pictured isn't in Priory Gardens but Priory Avenue by the junction with Blenheim Road which perhaps is a good indication of the general reliability of the article. I haven't been past it recently but, if it is the one I think it is, it has been vacant for a while. It was bought to be done up at what seemed like a very toppy price of over £4 million during Covid and progress on the refurbishment seemed very slow. This I think was the house that was the subject of the original rumour last year. Isn't it far more likely this is the developer or an estate agent spinning a yarn to generate a bit of interest in an expensive house in a difficult market? On the face of it, it does seem very unlikely. His political career is up in the air and although he has more income now from public speaking, he will lose his MPs salaries and other perks of office so the idea that he has a spare £4million around to spend after shelling out an equivalent amount on a place in Henley where he clear has an eye on the seat there which is due to become vacant. If he isn't in parliament, he won't need a London base and I would have thought that if he did have enough money, he'd be looking to get a place in the States as he is probably going to be mainly working there for the foreseeable future. Reports that Johnson has been seen in Chiswick are far more likely to indicate that he has a mistress here rather than that he is house hunting. |
