Personally, I feel desperately sorry for the younger and working people many if not all of whom are not harmed themselves by the Covid virus. Should they get it, it affects them no more than a heavy cold. My great-nephew and his partner and the couple they flat share with are proof of this. Back at end of March/April, the virus hit the four of them consecutively over a month - immediately all self isolated and stayed in the flat. Laid low for 3 days then a bit exhausted for the next 5/7 then all gone and better. All 4 fortunate to have jobs. Many other not so fortunate which is truly awful for them and the country! It is people like me, old and with a serious lung condition who are the ones at most risk. Therefore, I feel it is up to me and my friends to take great precautions and do all we can to avoid breathing in any infected 'droplets' and try hard not to touch surfaces likely to be infected. So lots of hand washing and keeping a safe distance. Being responsible for our own safety and health as much as we can. I will say my family from step children to nephews & their children are very aware and careful around me and their elderly parents too. No longer can the Country afford total lock down. Our economy must get up and running again - we've already run up huge debts it all has to be repaid and that means we the people have to do that from taxes. If I were young I would still avoid raves and huge crowds and be sensible and aware and also look out for the more "tottery" amongst us. Does anyone know, out of the new rising number of bods infected by Covid, how many are serious enough to require urgent hospital care? Is it the old, past their "use by date" or the carefree, careless young? |
