I have absolutely no problem with keeping my dog on the lead at the moment, but if I have to do that then I think it would be nice if others respected the current situation as well. I always move to the edge of the path and keep my dog beside me to let joggers and cyclists go by in CH grounds but recently there have been cyclists on the lawns, on the woodland paths, even on the top walk over the waterfall - these are adults, not little kids and they shouldn't be on any of them, those aren't the cycle paths. A woman told me the other day she was "practising" having her daughter in the child seat on her bike by riding up and down the house lawn by the lake. She must already have cycled like that to get there, surely, so no need to cycle on the house lawns for further practice. Most joggers and runners are very polite but an increasing number just shove past on the narrow woodland paths without any consideration whatsoever - literally shove past on Sunday as I was trying to get out of the way on the very narrow path uphill against the walls of the Park Road houses. I was trying to move to let him through but no, he wasn't going to stop his run for anyone. If runners, joggers and cyclists kept to the main paths it would be fine, if couples moved to single file if someone is trying to pass, that would be great, and if people with double buggies didn't stop to spend hours admiring the waterfall causing a bottleneck of people waiting to pass, that too would be lovely. I'm sure all the runners on here saying they give people space do, but there are an awful lot at the moment who have no regard for anyone and you have to admit that when you are running and blowing hard people might see you as a bit more 'in your face' than anyone wants just now. |
