I happened to be in CHG early this morning. Most of the dog walkers there had their dogs off lead. I don't mind what they do. I'm not worried about catching viruses from dogs. And presumably the next step would be to ban dogs from the park, rather than ban everyone from the park, so it wouldn't affect me. But I do find the psychology of it interesting. What are they thinking? Is it: "if I go early enough I won't get caught". or "the rules don't apply to me" or "I think the rules are stupid so I'm going to ignore them" or "when the park is empty it doesn't matter anyway" or "the park is empty so no-one will see me" It's an interesting case-study in middle-class rule-breaking. I guess you could ask the same kinds of questions of anybody who breaks any rules, but dog-walkers are just the ones I'm seeing at the moment, which has made me curious. |
