I wrote this recently, and thought it might be pertinent to this thread: Strolling in the Plague Year I plan my foray down the empty street, A joyless thirty minutes lie ahead; My goal is exercise, not friends to meet, The bleak surroundings echo to my tread. I spot my fellow-walkers from afar, The dance for social distance must commence: They hug the wall, I walk behind a car, They cross the road, I shelter by a fence. Distance maintained, I carry on my way, Eyes peeled for further breaches of my space, And thus we soldier on, day after day, We members of the locked-down human race. We seek the vaccine that will save us all And free us from Corona's deadly thrall. |
