| This is really, really sad. Since shortly after I came to Chiswick (around 1987) and discovered Cafe Rouge at SOGR it has been a delight to have a late brunch there at the weekend, reading the (supplied) Sunday newspapers with partners and friends. I stopped going so often when they restricted the access to the lovely upstairs room with its stunning view of the river - to get a table with a river view there on a sunny Sunday morning, eating a pain au chocolate and a big bowl of hot chocolate was wonderful, followed by crossing the bridge, a walk along the river on the other sids, crossing over again and lunch at one of the pubs near Hammersmith or Chiswick Bridge. I have been to birthday parties and post-funeral dos there, and have very fond memories. I do hope it has a brilliant reincarnation offering relaxed weekend brunches. |
