I am not fully in favor of Runway 3 but the arguments are very stale.

People want an alternative but forget that the long haul airlines are not wanting that alternative. They do not want Gatwick and they certainly do not want any other place. I know Gatwick and the surrounding areas it effects and those who simply want that alternative just think of the green fields they see but forget the rest.

As to the environment, tech is fast moving and much changes in 15 years. I remember the DC-10s Tristars and 1-11s which made a huge dent in the environment and peoples social lives. I am not sure an environmental argument stands if you do not take in its current stacking or aircraft and its future in traffic management and the tech of the planes themselves.

You cant just ignore a future based on today's thoughts which are around 10 years old but the technology in planes has changed in the last ten years.

Road pollution is a complete separate argument even if they come hand in hand with airport expansion
