Re. Ken Munn;
"So, we should get engaged in a race to the bottom with a low-wage dictator-ruled country like Turkey? Personally, I'd prefer to breath cleaner air and be able to sit peacefully outside in the summer.."

After The City, Heathrow is arguably the single biggest driver of the economy in London and the South East, and therefore absolutely critical to the UK economy as a whole.

Certainly if it were to lose its present pre-eminent position in Europe/Worldwide, then it would deliver a hammer blow to our economy, West London in particular.

And it's all very well pointing to the effect of pollution to our health etc, but the link between health and economic disadvantage (i.e. "no-wage" rather than "low-wage") is long established and undeniable: simply put, richer people live longer, poorer people die younger.

Better instead to keep Heathrow, but use the financial benefits it delivers to mitigate the effect of pollution.

And I say that as someone who lives south of CHR, under the flightpath into Heathrow.
