Having always been of a fairly concervative mindset I'd be happy to vote Tory if they could come up with a coherent set of policies and some decent individuals to front up the party. The campaign they have run has been nasty and vindictive a strategy that David Giles has been happy to go along with. They have accused the Prime Minister of lying whilst running a campaign based on a series of misleading and downright dishonest assertions. They can't attack the Government on the economy because it has been well run. The public wanted better schools and hospitals and much more money has been poured into them. The NHS isn't perfect but it is a total fallacy to claim that the extra funding hasn't improved it. I don't think there is much affection or passion for the current Government but they will be re-elected because the electorate can recognise their basic competence. They will win the two local constituencies in this area and the General Election, not because people are stupid, not because the ballot has been rigged but because the country recognises out of three uninspiring options they are the best choice. |
