I won't be voting conservative because of posts like this one. It's called demonising in effect trying to say, if you don't vote Tory you are a criminal. It's worth noting that longer prison sentences keep criminals out of society and a high cost to the tax payer by only delays when they come out. They will still come out with the same likely hood of reoffending under the tory way of doing things. It's called sweeping things under the carpet. It's fairly well understood that longer prison sentences are not a deterent to reoffenders but makes a percentage of the population feel better. I call this false hope. The tories have not suggested any resonable measure to fight crime as far as I can see. Stew Dean |
