| I've just managed to catch up on i-player with this the new film by the documentary maker Sue Bourne. I loved her film My Street in which she documented all the different people who lived in her street. There are some wonderful characters here I'd love to know more about. I already know about because I've seen the way the elderly can so easily sink into a solitary and isolated existence when what are often simple problems to the younger and more able become unsurmountable and disabling. However, I was surprised at the amount of loneliness in younger people - although when people move out or on from home and then there is no home to retreat to I can see that this can be difficult and things can spiral down and out of control. It's a film that everybody should watch, think about and do something about! I don't think any of these people expected to be lonely. |
