Your cats are naturally disorientated. Try confining them to one room for a while, with food/bed/litter trays (all apart from each other of course) and give them plenty of company.
Cats who are used to going outside, even if they use a tray at night, are going to be reluctant to use a tray during the day and they need time to adjust.
Slowly reintroduce them to the rest of the house, always showing them where their litter tray is.
It might take some time, so be patient. If necessary, shut off some of the more vulnerable rooms for now.. bedding and clean washing seems to be an attractive alternative for a litter tray!
