Oh, and one other thing Francis, BTP do investigate crime on buses. The thing is though, you cannot report a crime on a bus directly to BTP on the emergency network. All 999 calls go through to the Met, who will take the details, and pass it to BTP via a computer link. When that call is passed to BTP, it will also be passed to the nearest Met station who will usually deal with it.It's the same with the Royal Parks Police. All their calls are now handled by the Met.BTP will work mostly on the rail system, but as buses are part of the transport system, they are still covered by British Transport Police. The fact of the matter is, there are far fewer BTP officers in London than Met officers, and that is why Met officers usually end up covering BTP calls. |
