Loraine, you are absolutely correct.Francis, if you had done what Loraine had done and checked what I had said before commenting, you would perhaps not have made those comcomments.BTP do indeed have a squad targeting these particular people, and the way they carried out this theft is also a specialty of eastern Europeans.It's known in the trade as the "diversion dip"and ALWAYS involves 3 men.They position themselves in such a way so that the first man will get the victims attention while the second man, with a coat over his arm, slips his hand into the victims bag to take the purse.He then passes it to the third man who blends into the crowd.If the victim does notice anything wrong, the 3rd man is already lobg gone with the purse.This IS a textbook eastern European scam, along with the ATM fraud the are so prolific at.If you have any further doubts what I say is correct, ring BTP and quote the crime ref number given on the front page, which I beleive is a BTP originated number.If it were a Met generated report it would begin CAD.Hope this clears things up. |
