Andy, I don't believe your claim that the BTP have a squad targeting this sort of crime being carried out by eastern European gangs. This incident seems to be an opportunist theft in which the fact that it takes place on a bus is incidental. Unless a squad has been set up specifically to target people who wait in banks for the elderly to take out large sums of cash and then get on a bus you appear to be making things up. The article states that at least two of the men were well dressed and the Elvis Costello look alike seems to be holding up a sheet of paper. It is hard to tell whether this is at a bank counter or when he is getting on the bus but if it is the former then they may well have been in the bank attempting to perpetrate some financial fraud when they spotted the woman withdrawing the cash. |
