What Davies says is that IF more people chose to use public transport, then the percentage of people going to the airport by public transport might be 53% rather than 49% at present. Perhaps someone should ask him what figures lie behind that assumption! But even if that did happen, - most unlikely I'd think - then 47% of a much larger number than at present would be more cars than 51% of a smaller number now. and on the access charge idea he says "In addition a congestion or access charge for motor vehicles using the Heathrow site or in the wider area could play an important part. The Commission recommends the introduction of such a scheme should be considered" In the wider area? How might that affect Chiswick I wonder? |
