It's tragic that in the 21st century we have destitute people with very little in the way of help coming from Central and Local government to assist them back into finding a home and getting a job. Yet billions are spent on things like Garden Bridge, MP's pay rises, sending Aid overseas, especially when our own backyard is in such dire straights, with lack of Care and Day Centres for the Elderly, almost B-all for the homeless and a government who condone zero hours contracts. I suspect that quite a few Chiswick residents wouldn't be too keen on a soup kitchen concept as it could encourage more homeless into the area, but maybe I'm wrong on that, at least I hope I am. I would certainly be willing to volunteer for a local initiative to help the Homeless. |
