I cannot be the only person who gets accosted walking along Chiswick High Road by beggars which is quite surprising but not unusual even for affluent London areas.
We seem to have  a tallish guy always in mountain gear sometimes with a rucksack who sits near Carpetright.Seems a decent guy who occasionally mumbles at you when you pass.
On Saturday there was another guy hiding behind a tree near Cafe Nero who sporadically leapt out waving his hat presumably so we could deposit some coins.
Yesterday afternoon in Costa Coffee which is a very pleasant spacious shop a middle aged woman went up to everyone asking for change. She really smelt bad because the odour remained where she was standing and everyone  seemed to react to it.I am sure this woman hit on hard times and it just spiralled.I felt gulty for giving her nothing like  everyone else because she was "intruding".
This time of year weather wise is kinder hopefully to these people who for whatever  reason have fallen by the wayside.
Perhaps we need a weekly soup kitchen and this would show we do not only care about suffering animals. The Councils need to monitor the sutuation and look after the unforunate who surround us if we care to look.
The situation is worse if you venture down Goldhawk Road or parts of Acton High Street.Perhaps these beggars are canny  enough to realise where the money is.
There is hardly a decent restaurant along Uxbridge Road or Goldhawk Road and fast food outlets abound. So much for Westfield improving the area it is still Steptoe and Son land and no woman or man for that matter would be safe walking home at night.Let's hope the sutuation improves.
