MP's are public servants, paid for out of taxpayers money, just as all other public sector workers are too, and as such should have their pay increases linked to same increase rates that the government forces on the public sector. Most of them have other forms of income streams which many public sector employees don't, they receive huge expense allowances too, a pay off should they lose their seat, and those living outside london can also claim additional London Living expenses too. I see no reason why they should receive an 11% pay increase when most workers in the UK haven't received anything like that in the last five years combined. |
