| The 'friends of the FA' you mention are generally the people who work on a voluntary basis at grass roots level across the country. The final has always been partly an end of season celebration for the sport as a whole not just the professional side of it. The chance of tickets is a huge incentive for people to give their time to the game and without it the structure of the sport would be much weaker. |
